Die Gnade Gottes
Ein bei fono geposteter Link hat mich wieder mal auf den Gedanken gebracht:
Dieser Dr. Nathanson, der frühere berühmt-berüchtigte Abtreibungsarzt, war nach eigenem Bekunden für den Tod von 75.000 (!) Kindern verantwortlich. Doch er bekehrte sich und wurde Katholik - und in der Heiligen Taufe hat ihm die Gnade Gottes das Blut all dieser Getöteten von der Seele gewaschen. Nicht ein einziger Fleck blieb darauf - er war rein wie am ersten Tag, wie die Menschheit am Tag vor dem Sündenfall.
Diese Sünden hätte er anders kaum loswerden können - wie werde ich denn das Blut von 75.000 Unschuldigen los? Aber durch die Gnade des Herrn ist alles möglich...

Das zeigt noch mehr: Dass Gottes Ruf allem gilt, ALLEN ohne Ausnahme, auch denen, die gegen ihn arbeiten. Selbst das schlimme in der Welt kann zu gutem helfen.
Yes, I remember Dr. Nathanson well. For years, he was an outspoken pro-life doctor who went around giving speeches. He showed a lot of courage, but he always insisted that he didn't know what he was doing until the development of ultrasound and other technologies convinced him that the fetus was human.
He would always say that he REGRETTED what he had done, but that he didn't feel any guilt at all.
That was while he was an atheist. But then, through the grace of God, he became a Catholic. He was such a dry, practical, unreligious type that I can't imagine that he would EVER have found the Truth except through the persecution he suffered as a result of speaking out against abortion. And I think when he started speaking out, he was very naive--he thought mistakes had been made and he would explain to people and mistakes would be fixed!
The hatred and dishonesty he encountered from pro-abortion people were I think instrumental in his conversion, as well as the charity and love he received from Catholics. But meditating on all these things gives one a glimpse into the Economy of Salvation and the price that the Innocent always pay in order to redeem the Evil: which after all is the central Truth and also the central Scandal and Stumbling Block of Christianity.
Maybe these priest/rapists will come to salvation through realizing the horror of what they did. And maybe they could not have come to it in any other way. Perhaps the power of that conversion will produce good fruit that we cannot imagine! God is not mocked and He always finds a way to use Evil to produce an even greater Good.
....und das ist es, was ich trotz des Höllenschlundes und trotz der Vermessenheit, die sich beim Tagebuch dieses pädophilen Priesters aus Brasilien (vorige Notitz) auftut, letztlich sagen wollte. Die Barmherzigkeit triumphiert über alles vorstellbare und unvorstellbare Grauen und bleibt der Sieger.Was sonst wäre die Auferstehung?
